Are early C4 upper and lower a arms interchangable with late C4 lower and upper a arms? Also will later C4 upper and  lower A arms work with an early C4 crossmember? Thanks, Steve

I'm still gathering parts for Barb's 53 Studebaker Starlight coupe. I've got the 84 C4 suspension front and rear. I'm going to rebuild the A arms, ect. What are your thoughts on using Poly front end rebuild parts. Who makes the best kits? Thanks, Steve

Anybody narrow a C4 rear. I found a shop that will narrow and balance the half shafts. I have extreme muschel  strut rods and will purchase the toe rods later. I'll probabaly  have to take 1 1/2" out of each side. Any body do this? I will have to get better measurements when the snow melts as the 53 Stude is out in about 2 feet of snow yet. Just want to get ideas so I'm ready when the snow melts if it ever does. Read that as being a long winter. Thanks, Steve

Ralphy,I saw that post.  I picked up the 84  C4 front and rear  Friday. I'm going to start the jigs to hold the rear today. I bought some Exotic Muschel  trailing arms with heims and the brackets to the frame, and the strut rods with the brackets for the rear end. Progressive Automotive has the brackets to mount the coilovers to the lower A arms. The bracket bolts to the lower A arm , but mine don't have the holes. So I have to call them and see if i have the right lowers.I don't know about drilling them  I don't want to weaken them. Chevy says 84 -90  are the same part # upper and lower. So I have more researching to do.I looked a  Mo's we site. www.ndneyes.com/mo and found the QA1 part numbers he used. So the search goes on. I've been searching other sites and have found some useful info. Thanks, Steve

Thanks, Ralphy.  I understand the pinion angles  on a solid rear  axel / transmission set up. But I wasn't sure if it was the same on an independent rear end.  The trailing arms arms are set to a certain angle from the factory for a reason and wanted to duplicate them. It is easier to make sure they are right when i build the frame than change it later. Thanks, Steve

I got the rear end (84 C-4 Dana 36 ) Does anybody know the pinion angle, and the trailing arm angle for the C-4. The Chevy Corvette shop manual from the local dealer didn't have the info. There is nobody  local that I know of that has a C-4, If they did I could measure and get what I need. I need these measurements to jig up the rear end and build the frame to fit it. I have a 64 Vette rear end (put in the mid 70's )  in my 30 Model A Coupe. But that is a whole different ballgame. There will probably be more question as time goes by, Thanks, Steve

Phantomjock, do you have pics of your build. A C-5 rear is on a framework right? As is the front? I think it would be easy to incorporate them into my frame. I have 4 53 Studes all 2 doors. Do you know of any place that be more reasonable on prices. Here in northern Minn, I'm not at the roads end but you can see it from here. The freight is sometimes as much as the parts.  I'll look for the specs, Thanks guy, Steve

Do you know what the widths on the C-5 and C-6 are? What are the backspaceing on theses wheels? Would I be able to put a wider tire on and not have the rubbing issue. Like on a C-4 rear? I'll do research on a C-5 and C_6  Steve

Raphly, What is the width of the C-4 where the dog bones attach ? How much backspace do you think I can get by with and not rub?  The motor will be slightly warmed over, but not alot. Remember a grandma will be driving this. Are all the dana 36 and dana 44 the same width ? Any year any more user friendly? I haven't got a rear yet but have a line on an 84  with a cross fire 350 and an automatic. Thanks, Steve

Forgot to add that I'm planning to build the Stude to the same weight percentages as a new vette I want to try for the same front, rear, cross, side weights. So Hopefully Barb will have a fun ,well handling toy. .She has been know to smoke the rear tires  The grandkids will be impressed. Steve

I want to stay away  from the  newer rear end because of the torque tube, and extra cost factor.  I plan on building the frame to fit the rear end.I want jig the rear up where it will sit and go from there. The C-4 will probably be the way to go. I want to keep the wheels in the fender wells. If I have to mini tub it, that would be alright too. I want to go with wider tires but not steamrollers.( gotta have room to take the grand kids to the Dari Quuen) My boys used to race dirt modifieds and we built the whole cars , frames,( built on a chassis table) rollcages and the bodies. So the frame shouldn't be that bad to do .I also have a full sheet metal shop with a pullmax and english wheel .lathe and a milling machine. My youngest has a body shop in the making in the other half of the garage ( 54X99) So any more info on the widths and pro or cons will be appreciated. Thanks again, Steve

I'm looking to find the width of the vette rear end. The stock Studebaker is 58 1/2 wheel flange to wheel flange .Also any year better than others?  Any help would be appreciated.
