Hi, a newbie from Aus here. My project is probably a little mundane for most of you, because it involves a Jag IRS in a Jag. However I am fitting a Ford 9" centre.
I bought an XJ6 IRS that has had a 9" conversion done on it. I paid a lot of money for it ( way too much as it turned out), only to find on disassembling it, that the workmanship left a little to be desird. First problem was that the Ford axles had been cut and welded between the spline and the bearing shoulder. The bearings themmselves were not so flash either, which made me suspect that there may be some misalignment.
I have taken the centre section to a diff fabrication specialist, who made up a jig to check the housing and axles for square and alignment. It turns out one side is spot on and the other side is about 1.5mm out. It will have to be sleeved and remachined. This whole operation is going to cost over $500, then the cost of custom made billet axles will be at least $1100.
All this has caused me to look at the US made alternatives again. CWI don't seem to be around any more and at $3000 just for the centre, out of my budget anyway. However Dutchman do an alloy centre housing and axles for $1250, which is a lot less than it is going to cost to fix what I already have. The only question at the moment is how hard will it be to adapt to my XJ6 cradle and lower arms. Dutchman have sent me a drawing with all dimension for their unit, so I just need to do some measuring  at my end.
Has anyone had experience fitting a Dutchman centre to a Jag IRS?  Sorry if this has been a little long winded.
