Of course you realize I'm just doing thought experiments here. I guess I'm mostly thinking in terms of the Jag, but perhaps this could apply to others as well.

If one was to use a FWD transaxle type setup, then you could get rid of the diff and axles in the rear, right?

So, then, wouldn't it be rather 'simple' (ie: now that there is a lot of room in the right places) to insert airbags between the lower control arms and the above frame? You could even retain the original shock mount points right?
