I was thinking of using something like I've mocked up below.  The goal is to have a place to mount a bump stop (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PTP-19-1303-BL/) and maybe hold some round tube which I would attach to the outside of the hub.  I'd run the round tube vertically through the horizontal piecea and an inch or so up, place two short horizontal piece between the vertical supports.

Granted, this mock up is cardboard and duct tape but I think it gets the point across.  I've got quarter inch plate that I'll make this out of.

Let me know your thoughts, ideas, etc.
