c4 rearend and suspension in a 1950 Chev. coupe

I am going to install a c4 rear differential in a 1950 Chev business coupe.
Has anyone done this instalation before?
I'm not sure if the axels need to be shrtened or not.
I have 66" outside to outside on the rearend that's in the car right now.
I've looked around and haven't seen any info on this type of install.
If anyone has any experience, please let me know.
The car has a 1962 409/409 HP with a Richmond 5 speed trans and the c4 rear will make a sweet package and hopefully the handeling will be outstanding!
Thanks!

Rocco,
Welcome to the board!

First off you'll need to do the math yourself. Measuring the width from axle face to face. Then searching wheels and offsets. Finally measuring your body width. One more thing, C4's use 16" wheels, as in 15" will not work. So you'll need to search for almost extinct 16 inchers or 17 inch. This especially applies to tires.

Actually, believe they will fit. The '84 Corvette was supposed to come standard with a 15" wheel, the 16" wheels to be optional. Obviously this was changed before production was initiated, but not because of any change to brakes or rotor size.

Here is a pre-production '83 Corvette. The wheels are 15".

I did a little looking around. Seems there are two rotor diameters, 11 3/4" and 13". One may be an earlier year or one may be heavy duty. I'm going by a friend who has a AC Cobra kit with a C4 IRS and he had said 15" will not fit.

Thanks for the info.
As things progress, I'll keep you posted. ( And probably ask more questions)
I'll do the measurements.  I want to use 17" Halibrands, but we'll see.
I have a nice OLD set of Troque Thrust Americans, but they are 15"
Thanks again
