Some of you know my wife has been dealing with a severe case of RA for some time now. A few day's ago I found out my fifteen year old daughter has had pain in her fingers. It's been app. 1 year since it started, she hid this from my wife and I. Today she went for blood work and we will know by Monday the results. I pray to God it's not RA or any other form of arthritis.

Sorry to here that. I hope it turns out to not be something serious. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Ralphy - That is sad news. I hope that they find the pain was from a sprain or some other over-working teens do, and not the early onset of some arthritis. Thinking of you and your family, Jim

Thank's for the words of encouragement and sympathy. I always knew she may have a chance at getting some form of arthritis since it's passed on through blood/family. I never thought if it did happen it would happen this early though. RA typically doesn't rear it's ugly head till the 30's. The wife's started near after my daughters birth. I hate seeing any kid suffer, especially my own.

how did the tests turn out?

We still didn't get the results for the Lupus test. However all the others came back negative including the RA. But again RA can come back negative and you still can have it. I know of a person that this did happen to.
Thanks Again!

Well, she's been diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis. Which major symptom is the fusing of your vertebrae We're of course going to see a specialist. It is a form of arthritis.

On another note, please read this. When I was young back in the day app. 1976. I got a tightness in my left leg and some discomfort in my lower back. I crashed my snowmobile into a manhole cover in a ditch, that's when this started. I saw a doctor right after, he couldn't explain. I learned to live with it. At times later the pain would flair up. I seeked other advice. Another doctor told me I must have fibromyalgia treatment did nothing but make me worse, BS! Several chiropractors said they could help, not! You see my muscles as I could tell would not relax. I was as tight as a guitar string. Tried stretching, this actually would put me in more pain. So years go by working daily, get up gulp a big cup of coffee, drink more at work, Cokes in the afternoon. Now I have stomach acid problems so I'm prescribed Prilosec it works. Took it for two years. Late last year my body had enough My lower back is now hurting so bad I'm getting worried, can I keep working more years? Time to seek advice again, so I start with a chiropractor and if this don't work, maybe I need back surgery. Well in between I start orthopedic massages, hmm.. seems to help. She says I'm one of the worst she's ever seen for muscle tightness. She massages the toxins out of the muscles. One day for some reason we start talking about magnesium needed in the body. So I try taking magnesium citrate. WOOH! Something’s going on here. I can feel this crap moving in my muscles. So here I am 6 plus months still taking the mag. From what I have read it normally takes 6 months to recover. What else have I learned with read on low magnesium? Caffeine depletes it, stress depletes it. Low magnesium can cause gastrointestinal issues, I was taking prilosec. Guess what else Nexium is the new version of Prilosic. If you see a commercial watch for the disclaimer. Taking Nexium may deplete your magnesium! Holy S..., So what else do I find in low magnesium causes, metals ingested. Damn I'm a machinist I can't tell you how many times I've probably never used a dust mask through the years. I've had my hands on so many types of metals, especially polishing dust flying in the air. Now I go look up side effects of metals in your body. Guess what the symptoms are almost the same as low magnesium. So as I've said I'm taking magnesium and damn my symptoms are really improving my leg hardly hurts, I lost my limping, my lower back is way better.
So why am I telling you this? Guys when you’re working on your projects wear a dust filter when needed, please. And maybe try taking some magnesium supplements. Magnesium is one of the best body cleansers, it's also what aids your muscles to relax.
Here are a few more facts I've learned.
If you have problems with migraine headaches try magnesium. Many people have found this a cure.
There has never been a single person tested with type 2 diabetes that was not low in magnesium. Some say they have cured themselves. It's being investigated by the medical field.
It's estimated 56% of our population is deficient.

With respect to Migraines, for most of the 20 years after I graduated high school I would have two or more a week. Then I started having insomnia, weird muscle pain and other digestive issues. My doctor sent me to Gastro Specialist. One round of blood tests showed I was low on B12 & D3. Turns out my body doesn't absorb B12 from food and my skin doesn't make D3 any more. One day after the first B12 shot, no more migraines or insomnia.
Hard to believe a simple Vitamin (B12 in this case) was more effective at preventing/curing my migraines than heavy duty pain killers and other meds.
Sometimes you just get lucky seeing the right doctor.

Yeah, I take liquid sublingual B12, B6 and D3.
When I was diagnosed as having fybromyalgia, they put me on anti depresents. What a wonderful experience, now my muscles still hurt, I'm sleepy as all and I feel like I've been hit in the head with a ballpeen hammer. Stopped that real quick. People have been mis-diagnosed as having cronic fatigue or fybromyalgia only to be deficient in vitamins and minerals such as magnesium.
The best I can explain to myself as to how my leg and back hurt after the snowmobile wreck is. When I read some fybromylagia info it stated a sudden impact as a wreck can trigger symptoms. So if these people are not fybromyalgia suffers but .......
303 that's fantastic.

I'll share a few and thanks for the Mag-tips! Messed up my shoulder hanging sheet rock one weekend. Eventually convinced the Flight Doc to send me to Physio. The chief specialist there is the wife of one of the guys in the squadron. Her comment on my back muscles - Just like yours Ralphy - tight as a guitar string! I did the phisio, posture is improved but I'm thinking with my coffee adiction - I'm off to the Mag department now!
Definately do the MASK-Up guys!
Cheers - and thanks for that Ralphy (& 303) Jim

PJ, just a warning. Mag can give you, hmmm.... loose bowels. Take it at night. It will also make you sleepy at first. I never knew Epsom Salts were magnesium baths. One of the first signs may be a muscle twitch, do one of your eyes ever twitch?

Nope - no twitching - and the RDR is 500mg - but coffee does deplete it - so a supplement ought to be in order. Night is a good idea too - no sleeping on the job!

Oh if only it had been that easy!
First, to your being low on B12 and D, get tested for food allergies. It's the most common reason people don't properly absorb vitamins.
Now, for how I know that...
I have had Migraine since fourth grade. Since my 30s the number of attacks have gotten more frequent, but in the last two years (I am now 45), they have really gone berserk with the number reaching Chronic Migraine levels.
In the last three or so years I have also had fatigue problems. When we moved Tennessee my new allergist retested me to see how my seasonals were doing, but also checked me for food allergies. Hey, what do you know, I am allergic to tomatoes, peanuts, apples, and milk! We also did some blood tests concerning my fatigue, and my Vitamin B levels... What Vitamin B levels? There is supposed to be Vitamin B in my blood? So now I get a monthly Vitamin B shot because those of us with food allergies do not absorb Vitamin B very well at all in any digestive/oral form.
My Vitamin D levels weren't looking too hot either, especially considering the level of D I was already taking. They were low enough in fact that the doctor put me on prescription D for a month to get the level up to something a bit more normal. From there I take 2,000 mg Vitamin D every night. That's quite a lot, but remember, because I have food allergies, I do not absorb it properly, so most of it probably goes to waste.
My Magnesium levels were actually in the good zone, though I take more to see if it will help with the control of Migraine attacks. The answer seems to be no, but I take it anyway.
Speaking of Migraine, the answer to that little dilemma seems to be an anti epilepsy drug called Topamax (at least in my case). I've only been on it for two months, but already it has significantly decreased the number of migraine attacks. I cannot say for sure yet, but I think they are going to average out to one or two attacks a month, maybe fewer. That sure beats the hell out of fifteen or so a month!
Shiny Side Up!

For some strange reason, since my Gall Bladder was removed in June, I haven't needed as much B12 or D3.
