Independent Rear Suspension Forum » Can this be done ??? » 10/29/2011 1:24 pm |
I had the idea of just removing the stud part of the hub and making a new one that would be welded to the center piece without disturbing the splined and bearing area, does this sound safe?
The Jaguar studs are bolted from the wheel side and the studs have a shoulder between the wheel and hub thread but both are 1/2" threads.
Logical seen the best would be to just weld the holes and redrill them and as JEM mentioned, there would be only a little weld left.
If this would be a Chevrolet car, things would be easier (just thinking loud)!!

Independent Rear Suspension Forum » Hey Mustsed, my outboard brake parts came today » 10/26/2011 11:22 pm |
Hi everybody,
Today I re-read this post and couldn't find the info about the Hub-to-LCA shaft OD issue. I tought I read it here before but either I get older or I get older.
Anyhow, on the swap I did to outboard disc brakes, the hub to LCA shaft OD was different from each other and I had to make some bushings from this space material we were discussing in the old forum. I got the parts from a Jaguar salvage yard owner and I don't know off which jaguar they are but there is a difference in the Hub-to-LCA shaft OD.
Just to point this out!

Independent Rear Suspension Forum » Hey Mustsed, what ever happened with that Jag IRS install in a f100.. » 10/23/2011 10:39 pm |
Hi everybody,
Unfortunately I left that shop a few months ago and the last status was a few steps further then seen on the pics. I did the front mounting plate instead of the flat steel in the pic but that was all that's done! I have been in the shop a few weeks ago and truck is still in the same status.
If tehere should be any change in that I will post it here!

Hi everybody,
I have a Jaguar IRS that was changed to outboard disc brakes as Daze did. This setup is done to go under a '67 Mustang and also will have watts link style trailing arms on each side. Because of the unique hub design these outboard disc have, it is not possible to drill the hubs for the ford bolt pattern therefore the need for spacers.
Today I put on the rims on the hubs and noticed that the caliper & rotors are to deep inside the wheel against my liking! The solution would be removal of the spacers but then the bolt pattern problem is back.
After some brainstorming I got the idea to make offset wheel studs as pistured below The big trucks have big studs that could be machined that way but would it be a good Idea????
What do you thing?

Yep, that's what I am talking about. Shouldn't be to hard adapting this to any framed car chassis or am I missing something?
Ralphy, I live in Turkey and parts importing that big is a real problem!!!!!

It's funny that there are not much applications with the Corvette differential cover bracket involved. Just from eyeballing, it looks like a simple adaptable rear bracket for the Jaguar IRS. These are very rare or not existent overhere otherwise I would definitely use one on my car.

Hi JEM, hi Daze,
Has been a long time since being here but hope that I can come in more then in the past!
JEM, I had the oppertunity to get a Thunderbird IRS but after looking to it I tought it will raise the rear of the car a little because of the upward pointig arms. Even when cut they might lower the cage which will raise the rear of the car to a level that's to high for me! This was just eyeballing and not meassured but seemed like that visually. Do you have pics of your setup? The TB IRS is still available and mighht be a future plan.

Independent Rear Suspension Forum » So what do you think of the new forum??? » 10/18/2010 10:36 am |
I guess I am to old for new versions of any kind!
-In the former forum I read a post and it changed color so I know that I read it, how do I know it on the new one?
-I'm living in Turkey and my english might not be the best , therefore I used "spellcheck" very often but can't find it on this forum when typing a message - Is there still a spellcheck?
My personal vote goes to the old version but I can live with this one too (I think)!

Independent Rear Suspension Forum » Hey Mustsed, how is your project coming??? n/m » 10/18/2010 10:27 am |
It is a shame to write "No Time for the own project!". The rear end is ready, the side bars are too but the shop I'm working in is full with cars so I have to wait till some are finished and gone.
Meanwhile I did completed the other Jaguar rear end under the '62 F100 shop project we worked on.
That's all for now!
