Hubs needed turned down.

I just purchased my wheels for my 67 mustang.
They are the 17" cobra R wheels in chrome.
I noticed that the hub centers would not fit into the wheels and had to have them machined down just a bit.
Is this normal for running ford wheels?
Thanks for all the great info in here.

so you are talking about the ring inside the wheel flange??? I can't say that I am surprised. that flange is almost 3" so most mags should fit, but I could see a Ford specific wheel being less forgiving.

Yeah, that was the area I was speaking of.
The machinist only had to take about a 1/4" offto get it to clear.

Did you already have the wheel flange out of the hub, or... were they able to do it with it still in the hub?? 1/4" seams to me the ring is only 1/8" think so he had to completely remove it??
